Phu Huu roundabout has long been considered by local residents as a black spot for traffic accidents and traffic jams.
Many serious traffic accidents have occurred here due to the large container trucks, dump trucks, and tankers passing through, making people worried every time they pass through here.
To reduce the above situation, the Department of Transport of Ho Chi Minh City has adjusted the Phu Huu roundabout to narrow it inward to increase the road surface area by about 7.5 m. The traffic light pole has been moved to the intersection, and separate phases for motorbikes and cars on Nguyen Duy Trinh Street (both directions to the intersection).
At the same time, install concrete dividers to separate motorbikes from container trucks, cars... on Nguyen Duy Trinh Street. Install traffic lights that operate in 3-phase mode, similar to the light phase at My Thuy intersection.
According to Lao Dong, at around 5:30 p.m. on November 11, at Phu Huu roundabout, the renovation was completed, and notice boards were also installed to guide people to move conveniently.
In particular, even though it is rush hour in the afternoon, vehicles moving through here are quite convenient, there is no longer traffic jam or congestion like before.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh, a resident living near this roundabout, said that the renovation here has been completed for many days, however, traffic jams and congestion have only decreased significantly in the past 4-5 days.
"After the renovation, traffic jams still occurred, then there were adjustments to the traffic light system so traffic became more convenient. Now, only occasionally in the evening do we see slight congestion," said Ms. Minh.
