Prioritizing 7 metro projects in the period 2025 - 2030
The above information was announced by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction on the afternoon of January 16, at the Conference to summarize the work in 2025 and deploy key tasks and solutions for 2026.

The Steering Committee for Railway Network Development of Ho Chi Minh City agreed to focus resources and prioritize investment in 7 key projects in the period 2025 - 2030, including:
Ben Thanh - Can Gio route: Investor Vinspeed Company laid ground on December 19, 2025, construction is expected from March 2026, completion in 2028.
Metro Line 2 (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong section): Started construction on January 15, 2026, expected to be operational in 2030.

Metro Line No. 2 (Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section) and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh: The city is considering assigning Truong Hai Group (Thaco) to study investment in the form of PPP.
It is expected to start construction of the Ben Thanh - Thu Thiem section on April 30, 2026, the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh section in mid-2026, and be completed in 2030.

The routes prepared for investment by the Urban Railway Management Board include: Binh Duong New City - Suoi Tien; Thu Dau Mot - Ho Chi Minh City and phase 1 of Metro Line 6, expected to start construction in 2026, completed in 2030.



The goal by 2030 is for Ho Chi Minh City to complete about 187 km of urban railway, with a total estimated investment of 19.67 billion USD.
Phase 2030 - 2035 to expand an additional 275 km of metro
By 2035, the City will continue to invest in about 275 km of urban railway, focusing on regional connection routes, gateways and satellite cities such as:
Metro Line 1 (Ben Thanh - An Ha).

Metro Line 2 (Tham Luong - Cu Chi).
Metro Line 3 (Hiep Binh Phuoc - Binh Trieu - Nga 6 Cong Hoa - An Ha).

Metro Line 4 Dong Thanh (Hoc Mon) - Tan Son Nhat Airport - Ben Thanh - Nguyen Huu Tho - Hiep Phuoc Urban Area.

Metro line No. 6, the remaining section of the inner belt.
Phase 1 of Metro Line 7 (Thu Thiem - Thao Dien - Thanh Da - High-Tech Park - Vinhomes Grand Park section).

Vung Tau - Ba Ria - Phu My Metro Line.
In total, by 2035, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to complete 462 km of urban railway, with a total capital demand of about 50 billion USD.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, the City People's Committee assigned a number of businesses to study important railway lines.
Becamex Corporation is researching the Chon Thanh - Bau Bang - Cai Mep railway line, belonging to the Ho Chi Minh City - Loc Ninh and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau railway axes.
Sovico Group was assigned to survey and prepare a Feasibility Study Report for Metro Line No. 4 (Dong Thanh - Hiep Phuoc) with equity for 12 months.
Masterise Group is conducting a survey and preparing a Feasibility Study Report for Metro Line No. 3 (An Ha - Hiep Binh Phuoc), also with equity in 12 months.
Network of 27 metro lines, total investment of about 90 billion USD
According to the plans approved by the Prime Minister, Ho Chi Minh City (new) will develop an urban railway network of 27 routes, with a total length of about 1,024 km.
The Ho Chi Minh City area (before the merger) has 12 routes, about 582 km long.
Binh Duong (before the merger) has 12 routes, about 305 km long.
Ba Ria - Vung Tau (before merger) has 3 routes, about 125 km long.
The Thu Thiem - Long Thanh national railway line has been converted into an urban railway, about 42 km long (section through Ho Chi Minh City about 12 km).
The total investment capital demand to complete the entire network is estimated at 90 billion USD.
