On September 2nd, the Traffic Police Department (CSGT) of the Ministry of Public Security informed that, through practical research and receiving opinions from the people, the Traffic Police Department has launched a campaign for drivers to raise awareness and ethics when participating in traffic, considering the lane adjacent to the median strip of the expressway (lane 1) as a high-speed traffic lane, for overtaking vehicles.
However, in reality, many drivers still drive in lane 1 at low speeds, hindering traffic flow and limiting vehicle circulation on the road.
It is expected that the Traffic Police Department will propose and coordinate the synchronous implementation of solutions, including:
Reorganize traffic on some expressways by increasing the minimum speed on lane 1 and lane 2 (next to lane 1) by no more than 20% compared to the maximum speed;
Strengthen propaganda and education on the awareness of letting go and considering lane 1 as a high-speed traffic lane, reserved for overtaking vehicles. After overtaking vehicles in lane 1, meeting safety conditions, move to lane 2. Vehicles traveling in lane 1 see vehicles behind asking for leniency (through signals, signs), then must move to lane 2 to give way;
Strictly punish vehicles traveling below the minimum speed and driving at a lower speed than other vehicles traveling in the same direction without going to the right lane of their direction, except in cases where other vehicles traveling in the same direction exceed the prescribed speed.
