On March 27, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee just assigned the Department of Agriculture and Environment to urgently report and propose a list of auctions for mineral exploitation rights.
At the same time, the Department is required to review, tighten, and complete reports, clearly identifying shortcomings in the management of mineral resources in the area.
In which, it is necessary to clarify the obstacles in coordination between sectors and localities; post-licensing work after licensing; the situation of mining exceeding capacity, outside the permitted boundaries; the comparison of mine reserves with invoices and documents in settlement...
On that basis, the Department advised on drafting a plan to organize a conference to comprehensively rectify and enhance the efficiency of mineral management in the province.
According to statistics from the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, the whole province currently has about 200 valid mineral exploitation licenses.
In 2025, the exploitation output reached about 2.2 million m3 of crushed stone, 360 thousand m3 of block stone, 750 thousand m3 of construction sand, nearly 4 million m3 of leveling soil and 20 thousand m3 of clay for bricks and tiles. Total revenue from this activity reached more than 367 billion VND.
In the context of the period 2025 - 2026, Gia Lai is implementing a series of large-scale transport infrastructure projects, and the demand for construction materials is increasing. However, in some areas, especially along major rivers such as the Kon River, Ayun River, Ba River..., there is still a complicated situation of illegal sand mining, causing public outrage.
Functional agencies have handled 9 violating businesses with a total amount of more than 1.178 billion VND.
