Leaving for reunion, choosing to stay and work extra
Lunar New Year is a time for many families to reunite, but for many students in difficult circumstances, this is an opportunity to take advantage of working part-time to have money to pay tuition fees and cover living expenses at the beginning of the year.
Thanh Nhan, a 2nd year student at Vinh Long College, from Hoa Hiep (Vinh Long), said that his family is still in dire straits, so he proactively registered to drive Grab cars throughout Tet instead of going home for long days.
Nhan shared that on weekdays, due to school schedules, his income is only about 100,000 to 200,000 VND per day. During Tet, the number of customers increases, and the wages can be three or four times higher, enough for him to save for upcoming tuition fees.
According to Nhan, putting aside spring outings with friends also makes her feel sad, but in return, she feels independent when she doesn't have to ask for money from her family. She said: "When you are young, try your best, later you will see that it is worth it.

Hoang Thang, a 3rd year student majoring in construction, also chooses to stick to the road at the beginning of the year. Thang said that his family's circumstances are not well-off, so driving for a few hundred thousand VND each day is an extra part to share the burden with his parents.
Thang confided that many times looking at friends reuniting still feels a little sad, but in return is maturity. "Every safe trip, every serious working day, I feel myself getting closer to the goal of graduating with a stable job," Thang said.
Contributing to limiting alcohol concentration violations
Not only meaningful for making a living, students driving technology cars during Tet also contributes to ensuring traffic safety. The demand for travel increases, especially after gatherings with alcohol consumption.
Mr. Le Trung Thanh, Long Ho commune, commented that taxis used to mainly operate on major roads. Now, even in rural areas, people can still easily book cars, be picked up on the spot and even be supported to ride motorbikes home.
According to Mr. Thanh, many cases of going to wish Tet only intend to drink tea, but in the joyful spring atmosphere, it is difficult to avoid a few glasses of beer or wine. He believes that even if they are not drunk, vehicle drivers still violate alcohol concentration and pose potential risks.
He emphasized: "Thanks to students driving, many people choose to call services instead of driving themselves. This both avoids being penalized and is safe for themselves and others on the road.

Mr. Phan Trung Hieu - manager of the shuttle bus service group in Vinh Long province before the merger said that there are currently more than 30 drivers who are students of universities in the area participating in activities.
According to Mr. Hieu, creating conditions for students to participate in driving cars not only helps them have more legitimate income, but also supports the community during peak seasons.
In the coming time, we will aim to coordinate with the Trade Union organization and relevant units to train skills and raise safety awareness for this force," Mr. Hieu added.
