On March 21, the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Soc Trang province held a launching ceremony to contribute to the Fund for the Poor to implement the elimination of temporary and dilapidated houses in the province.
Attending were Mr. Lam Van Man - Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee; Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Tran Van Lau - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ms. Ho Thi Cam Dao - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the People's Council of Soc Trang province - said that in order to create an exciting atmosphere to welcome the Party Congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, Soc Trang aims to complete the support for the construction and repair of 8,673 temporary and dilapidated houses in the area before June 30, 2025, 3 months earlier than the original plan, with a total funding need of over 455 billion VND.
To achieve the above goal, the Provincial Steering Committee will continue to mobilize the participation of the entire political system, carrying out the movement of "district competing with district, commune competing with commune" resolutely, urgently and methodically. At the same time, diversify resources, promote the spirit of self-reliance and self-strengthening, not relying on and relying on support from the Central Government.
Soc Trang province calls on all levels, sectors, union members, association members, armed forces, business communities and all people to promote the tradition of solidarity, actively participate and contribute with the spirit of "whoever has something to contribute, whoever has merits to contribute, whoever has property to contribute, whoever has a lot to contribute a lot, whoever has little to contribute a little" to successfully implement this meaningful program.

Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - Vice Chairman of Soc Trang Provincial People's Committee - said that through a review of the whole province, there are currently 8,673 households of meritorious people, poor and near-poor households, and ethnic minority households that do not have solid and safe housing.
As of March 19, the whole province has started construction of 6,106 units (over 70%); of which, 4,117 units have been completed. The province is urgently implementing the remaining 2,567 houses, striving to complete the program before June 30, prioritizing the completion of housing support for ethnic minorities before Cholnam Thmay 2025 and for meritorious people before April 30.
Since the program was implemented, the whole province has received over 357 billion VND, of which the central capital allocated is 62.7 billion VND and the Provincial Fund for the Poor has received over 295 billion VND. The province has allocated over 324 billion VND to localities for implementation.

Right at the launching ceremony, the Steering Committee for Eliminating Temporary and Dilapidated Houses of Soc Trang province received more than 8 billion VND.
