The chess swimming tournament is one of the outstanding events of the Hung Kings Commemoration Day, Hung Temple Festival and Earth Ancestral Culture and Tourism Week in Binh Ngo year 2026.
This year is the first year the tournament has been organized after merging the province and operating the two-level local government model.
This year's tournament has the participation of 9 racing teams with 270 outstanding athletes representing communes and wards: Viet Tri ward, Thanh Mieu ward, Tam Nong commune, Tho Van commune, Tien Luong commune, Dao Xa commune, Song Lo commune, Doan Hung commune.
According to Mr. Duong Hoang Huong - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Tho province, maintaining the organization of annual tournaments on the occasion of the Ancestral Day is not only aimed at strengthening health to build and protect the Fatherland, but also a practical action to preserve and promote the intangible cultural heritage values of the Ancestral Land region.
The teams contributed to the people and tourists powerful rowing performances, dramatic sprints and chases on Van Lang Park lake.
Mr. Tran Van Tuan - a resident of Xuan Lung commune, Phu Tho province - shared: "From the water competitions to the enthusiastic cheers of the audience, the atmosphere here is really exciting. Hopefully, through meaningful cultural and sports activities like this, the tourism of the province will develop more strongly".
At the end of the rounds, the Tien Luong commune chess team excellently won the First Prize; the Second Prize was the Thanh Mieu ward team and the Third Prize was the Doan Hung commune team; teams: Viet Tri Ward 1, Viet Tri Ward 2, Tho Van commune, Song Lo commune, Dao Xa commune - shared consolation prizes.
This is a unique traditional sport, associated with the history of nation-building and defense of the nation, a symbol of the indomitable will and martial spirit of the residents of the ancient Van Lang capital river region.
The successful organization of the chess swimming tournament has affirmed the sustainable vitality of cultural heritage, contributing to promoting the image of friendly, hospitable and united Phu Tho Tourism in the eyes of people and tourists from all over.
