Voters in Dak Lak province have just requested the Ministry of Transport to allocate capital to soon implement the Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) expressway project to meet the needs of economic, cultural and social development.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the national master plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050, the North-South expressway in the West, Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak) section, will be invested in after 2030.
Resolution (No. 23-NQ/TW) of 2022 of the Politburo on socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security in the Central Highlands region determined: By 2030, research and invest in the Western North-South expressway (Ngoc Hoi - Pleiku, Pleiku - Buon Ma Thuot, Buon Ma Thuot - Gia Nghia).
From the perspective of enterprises, Mr. Le Duc Huy - Chairman of the Board of Members of Dak Lak 2-9 Import-Export Company Limited (under the Dak Lak Provincial Party Committee) assessed that if the Gia Nghia - Buon Ma Thuot expressway is implemented, it will be of great significance to enterprises operating in the fields of processing, exporting agricultural products and logistics. Because the current Dak Lak - Dak Nong national highway has to pass through many densely populated residential areas, large trucks move at limited speeds. The implementation of the expressway through these two provinces will contribute to shortening transportation time, saving huge costs for enterprises.
Creating momentum for the development of the Central Highlands
In fact, the Gia Nghia - Buon Ma Thuot expressway project, if completed, will be one of the key routes connecting the entire southern Central Highlands region. Thereby, creating space, motivation as well as great momentum to develop this area in the future.
The proposed expressway is built soon in line with the context where the authorities of both Dak Lak and Dak Nong provinces aim to improve transport infrastructure as one of the breakthroughs for socio-economic development.
Mr. Le Trong Yen - Vice Chairman of Dak Nong Provincial People's Committee assessed that the early implementation of the Gia Nghia - Buon Ma Thuot expressway is very necessary. In addition, the North - South expressway project in the West, Gia Nghia - Chon Thanh section (Binh Phuoc), this new expressway will concretize the 10-year socio-economic development strategy from 2021 to 2030. Thereby, promoting inter-regional economic development, creating momentum for Dak Nong to strongly develop its strengths in the near future.
According to Mr. Yen, the locality still does not have an airport, so the highway will play a key role, promoting logistics development, bringing key agricultural products far and wide, and exporting them internationally. When Gia Nghia city has 2 strategic highways passing through, it will promote the development of surrounding satellite localities. Thereby, contributing to poverty reduction for the people, business development and changing the face of the city in the future.
Placing high expectations on the Gia Nghia - Buon Ma Thuot expressway, Mr. Nguyen Thien Van - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee - shared: "Dak Lak Province has sent a document requesting the Central Government to adjust the implementation time of the Gia Nghia - Buon Ma Thuot and Pleiku (Gia Lai) - Buon Ma Thuot expressways to before 2030.
