Propaganda and Buddhism join hands to maintain security and order
To build a solid people's security posture in ethnic minority areas, in recent times, Can Tho City has established and maintained many models to promote the role of monk and Buddha in preventing and combating crimes. These models not only promote practical effectiveness but also become an important fulcrum in maintaining the peace of the people's lives.
In Thoi An Hoi commune, the Steering Committee for crime prevention and control, social evils and building a movement for All People to protect security and order has coordinated with the Management Board of Po Thi Th Lang pagoda to establish a model "Buddhists participate in crime prevention and control and ensure security and order".
With 16 members representing sectors, unions, political and social organizations and the Pagoda Management Board, the monthly model organizes propaganda for Buddhists about religious activities, security and order situation, methods and tricks of all types of crimes and preventive measures. After 5 years of operation, the model has clearly promoted its effectiveness, contributing to raising awareness of law compliance, mobilizing community strength to participate in preventing and combating crimes and social evils and building a movement of All People protecting national security in the locality.
According to Mr. Bang Phuoc An - Chairman of the People's Committee of Thoi An Hoi commune (Can Tho city) - after the merger, the commune has 13 hamlets with more than 8,000 households, of which the Khmer people have nearly 1,400 households, accounting for more than 17% of the population. Maintaining the model of "Buddhism in participating in crime prevention and control and ensuring security and order" at Po Thi ThLang pagoda is very necessary, contributing to helping people improve their understanding of the law, be vigilant against all types of crimes, actively participate in eliminating social evils, and maintain security and order at the grassroots level.

At Mahatup Pagoda (Doi Pagoda) in Phu Loi Ward (Can Tho City), the model of "Sudhai and Buddhists participating in crime prevention and control, ensuring security and order" was also established and maintained effectively.
Venerable Lam Tu Linh - Deputy Abbot of Mahatup Pagoda - said that through the model, dignitaries, officials and Buddhists have provided the police and local authorities with many reports and denunciations of crimes, contributing to helping the authorities detect and handle many cases of law violations.
