On the afternoon of November 21, the Traffic Police of Khanh Hoa Province Police set up a checkpoint in Cong Hai Commune (old Ninh Thuan) to temporarily close National Highway 1 in the South - North direction, due to the congestion of vehicles in the flooded area bordering Phu Yen.
Hundreds of cars, trucks and passenger cars were forced to stop waiting for the route to open.
According to the Khanh Hoa Traffic Police Department, many sections of National Highway 1 in the area are deeply flooded due to rising floodwaters, posing a potential risk to traffic safety, so the authorities have to temporarily limit vehicles traveling from the South to Khanh Hoa.
At the checkpoint, traffic police were on duty continuously, and coordinated with local authorities to provide meals for drivers and passengers trapped.
On the same day, on the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao expressway, vehicles from Phan Thiet heading to Nha Trang when reaching Phan Rang intersection were instructed to turn onto National Highway 1 (old Ninh Thuan) to avoid the heavily flooded area in Khanh Hoa.
On the morning of November 21, many vehicles traveling on National Highway 1 in the South - North direction when arriving at Ca Pass had to stop because Phu Yen was deeply flooded, causing congestion for many kilometers.
Traffic police forces of Khanh Hoa and Dak Lak provinces have coordinated to regulate and divert traffic from a distance to avoid large numbers of vehicles entering a dangerous point.
