On the night of December 29 (January 28), information from the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone said that from the morning of the same day, border gates in Lang Son officially stopped processing customs clearance procedures for goods, entering the Lunar New Year holiday according to the agreement between Vietnam and China.
According to statistics as of 2:00 p.m. the same day, at Tan Thanh, Coc Nam, Huu Nghi and Chi Ma border gates, there were still about 40 trucks and 83 people, including owners and drivers, waiting for customs clearance.
Most of these long-distance drivers come from the central and southern provinces, forced to celebrate Tet far from home.
To support and encourage those remaining at the border gate during Tet, the Management Board of Dong Dang - Lang Son Border Gate Economic Zone coordinated with functional forces such as Border Guard and Customs to organize the giving of 83 gifts to cargo owners and drivers. Each gift is worth 800,000 VND, including cash and candy.
In addition, businesses operating ports in the area also arrange daily meals, support living expenses, and create the most favorable conditions to help drivers and cargo owners have a warmer Tet holiday at the border gate.
Customs clearance of goods at border gates in Lang Son province is expected to be temporarily suspended from January 28 (the 29th day of Tet) to January 31, 2025 (the 3rd day of Tet).
