Regarding the horrific car fire that killed 2 people at Petrolimex gas station No. 90 (Da Nang), on May 3, the Investigation Police Agency of Da Nang Police said - the driver and car owner have been temporarily detained.
Initially, the driver confessed that due to being too panicked, he did not open the door to rescue the victims, while the cause of the explosion was determined to be related to dozens of blocks of batteries and chargers contained in the trunk of the car.

Previously, on May 1, public opinion was shocked by a serious fire that occurred in Tu My village, Thang Dien commune, Da Nang city. The car with license plate 92A-265. xx just stopped at gas pump No. 1 when it suddenly exploded from behind. Fierce flames engulfed the entire vehicle in just a moment, turning the car into a fierce "torch" in the middle of the gas station.
Although on-site forces made efforts to control the fire after 15 minutes, two victims, T.H. T (born 2009) and D.A. K (born 2010), both residing in Thang Dien commune, Da Nang, tragically died, right in the car compartment.
Working with the police agency, driver Vo Nguyen Duy An (born 2002, residing in Thang Dien commune, Da Nang) - said that he was just a driver's assistant.
The car owner is Mr. N.Q. V (resident of Thang Dien commune) - owner of a children's game business in Dien Ban. Every day, Mr. N.Q. V takes 2 victims to Dien Ban to work for him. One of the two victims is Mr. N.Q. V.'s sister-in-law.
At noon on May 1st, Mr. N.Q. V. had a beer, so he asked Mr. Vo Nguyen Duy An (born 2002, residing in group 11, Tu Nghia village, Thang Dien commune) to help him pick him up. After that, an incident occurred.
Notably, when answering about not taking any action to save people or warning about trapped victims, An confessed that he was "too scared to know how to handle it".
However, public opinion raises big questions about the responsibility of the driver and vehicle owner when turning the passenger car into a "mini truck" transporting explosives illegally. Scene examination showed that the car contained 20-25 blocks of 24V batteries and 9 fully charged toy electric vehicle batteries.
Colonel Nguyen Ha Lai - Deputy Director of Da Nang City Police affirmed: The transportation of a large quantity of batteries and chargers into the gas station area is a serious violation of fire prevention and fighting (PCCC) regulations.
From a legal perspective, the act of transporting dangerous goods without ensuring safety, leading to particularly serious consequences (death of 2 people), shows signs of the crime of "Violating regulations on fire prevention and fighting" under Article 313 of the Penal Code. The investigating agency is consolidating the file and accurately assessing the cause for strict handling before the law.
