On August 17, 2024, information about solutions to respond to epidemics of dairy cows in Lam Dong, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) said:
In recent days, staff have focused on supporting treatment, guiding treatment regimens for cows, and helping people in the key dairy area of Lam Dong.
To date, the entire province has mobilized, received, and organized the distribution of medical supplies to support the treatment of sick cows, including: 72,306 vials of various types of infusions; 10,180 bottles of vitamin C and bcomplex; 3,970 bottles of antibiotics and painkillers; 2,806 electrolyte packs; 950kg Sodium Bicarbonate; 2,700 liters of benkocid and 400 protective suits. Thus, the amount of basic supplies and medicines meets the daily needs of treating sick cows.
To reduce the number of cows getting sick and dying from diarrhea, central authorities and Lam Dong province continue to organize and implement measures to treat sick cows and limit damage. However, the urgent solution today is that farmers need to actively coordinate with veterinary staff to implement treatment regimens for cows to ensure the best results.
Up to this point, the force participating in disease prevention and control has over 600 people; Of which, the direct treatment workforce is 138 people and the workforce for epidemic prevention and destruction of sick cows is 465 people, including: Veterinary staff of the department, departments, districts and communes; Enterprises, livestock farming units, veterinary medicine and animal feed businesses in the province.
According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Lam Dong province, on August 16, 2024, the number of cows with diarrhea in Lam Dong that recovered after treatment was 22, concentrated in Duc Trong district.
Accumulated to date, 615 cows have recovered (including 156 cows from Don Duong, 420 cows from Duc Trong and 29 cows from Lam Ha). Through monitoring, the number of cows recovering after treatment gradually increased in localities.
Experts also promptly adjusted the treatment regimen to apply to cows whose disease relapsed. Currently, Lam Dong province has 5,812 infected animals, of which 303 have died.

“Immediately after implementing the treatment regimen, the sick cow gradually recovered. The province has coordinated electrolyte water and drugs in the treatment regimen to treat sick cows in a timely manner. A special working group was established and is constantly on duty in localities to promptly support the situation of sick cows."
