At noon on June 19, after 2 days of journey, Truong Sa 08 ship, Flotilla 1, Brigade 125, Naval Region 2 docked, bringing fishermen in distress at sea back to the mainland safely, and organizing the handover to their families. Colonel Le Hong Quang, Deputy Head of the Political Department of Region 2, attended and chaired the handover; also attending were Senior Lieutenant Colonel Ha Van Hau, Deputy Political Commissar of Brigade 125.
Previously, at about 8 pm on June 14, 2026, fisherman Nguyen Xuan Tung (43 years old; residing in Hoai Nhon ward, Gia Lai province), a fisherman on fishing vessel BD 99269 TS, during fishing due to large waves, he was cut across the right knee by a lead fishing line and fell into the sea, when he was brought onto the fishing vessel, he saw his right calf severed, losing a lot of blood.
Mr. Tung's wound was garoed by everyone and pain relievers were used, but he became increasingly tired. At 4 pm on June 15, the captain decided to take fisherman Nguyen Xuan Tung to Truong Sa Island Hospital for treatment.

At Truong Sa Island Clinic, doctors and nurses diagnosed: The patient had a blood loss shock due to a severed right calf wound, a broken lower 1/3 of the right femur, and was participated in voluntary blood donation by officers, soldiers, and people on the island. Doctors and nurses quickly consulted and proposed the next treatment direction, and at the same time requested to transfer the patient ashore soon to continue treatment.
Upon receiving the request, Truong Sa 08 ship was mobilized, quickly approached the injured fishermen, coordinated with the Island's Infirmary to transport and bring fishermen and relatives of patients onto the ship to ensure safety. During the journey, officers and soldiers on Truong Sa 08 ship conducted visits, encouragement, arranged accommodation, and health care for patients and their families.

At 11:00 AM on June 19, after 2 days of journey, Truong Sa 08 ship docked, bringing the fisherman in distress at sea back to the mainland safely, organizing the handover to the family with stable health and spirit. After receiving him, the family continued to take him to Military Hospital 175 for monitoring and treatment.
On behalf of the family, Mr. Phan Quoc Viet, cousin of fisherman Nguyen Xuan Tung, emotionally shared: "Our family is extremely grateful to the officers and soldiers of the Navy who promptly rescued, cared for and brought my younger brother back to the mainland safely.
