On December 8, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province submitted a proposal to the Prime Minister and relevant ministries and branches to consider allocating an additional VND2,500 billion in medium-term public investment capital for the 2026-2030 period to implement the Go Dau - Xa Mat expressway project, in the context that the project has been approved for more than three years but the capital plan is still lacking compared to demand.
Go Dau - Xa Mat Expressway (phase 1) is the next connecting route of Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway, running from Go Dau Ward to Tan Ninh Ward. The project is currently being accelerated by Ho Chi Minh City and Tay Ninh. In the first phase, the route is about 28 km long, with a complete scale of 4 lanes with emergency lanes on both sides, with a total investment of about VND 10,266 billion.
When completed, the expressway will strengthen the connection from Ho Chi Minh City to the center of the former Tay Ninh province, while creating momentum for the development of key areas of the province such as the Thanh Duc Industrial - Logistics - Urban Complex (scale of 5,499 hectares, expected to start construction of an industrial park in the first quarter of 2026), Ba Den Mountain National Tourism Area and Special National Monument of the Southern Sub-Department Central Station.
The project is proposed to be invested in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), in which the state budget is expected to participate in VND 5,500 billion, the remaining capital is mobilized by investors. However, in the 2026-2030 medium-term public investment capital plan, only about 3,000 billion VND has been balanced.
In this situation, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province proposed that the Central Government add an additional VND 2,500 billion to ensure the implementation of phase 1, while contributing to the completion of the goal of having about 5,000 km of expressways nationwide by 2030 according to the Government's orientation.
According to the plan, the starting point of the project connects the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway in Phuoc Thanh commune; the end point intersects with Provincial Road 799 and Provincial Road 781 in Ninh Thanh ward. In phase one, the route is 28 km long, designed with 4 lanes, maximum speed of 120 km/h. When completed, the entire 65 km long route will become an important North - South traffic axis of Tay Ninh province, and will be directly connected to the Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway.
