On June 14, Tho Son Commune People's Committee said that the Economic Department of Tho Son commune (Dong Nai city) had received a wild pangolin individual from Mr. Bui Van Huu (46 years old, residing in Son Hoa village, Tho Son commune, Dong Nai city).
Mr. Bui Van Huu said that while working in the fields, he discovered a pangolin individual and kept it. Through investigation, it was learned that this is a wild animal that is being protected, so he volunteered to hand it over to functional agencies to release it back to the forest.

Through inspection, functional agencies determined that this is a Java pangolin (Manis javanica). This is a rare wild animal belonging to group IB, prioritized for protection at the highest level and listed in the Red Book in Vietnam.

The pangolin weighs about 4 kg, is about 1m long, and is in good health.
