Visiting and encouraging forces implementing DNA sampling of martyrs' remains in An Giang

An Giang - Tri Ton Martyrs' Cemetery has 1,185 martyrs' graves, of which it is expected to take biological samples from 953 graves.

On the afternoon of July 23, Mr. Tran Van Cuong, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of Tri Ton Commune People's Committee (An Giang) visited and encouraged officials and employees who are performing the task of taking biological samples to serve DNA testing of martyrs' remains at Tri Ton Martyrs' Cemetery.

At the visit, Mr. Tran Van Cuong cordially inquired about the health, living conditions and progress of tasks of officials and employees directly involved in taking samples; and at the same time acknowledged and praised the spirit of responsibility and dedication of the forces that overcame many difficulties, strictly implemented professional procedures, ensured that the sample taking took place scientifically, accurately and maintained the solemnity of the martyrs' graves. The Chairman of the Commune People's Committee requested the forces to continue to promote the spirit of responsibility, closely coordinate, ensure progress, quality and safety in the process of performing tasks, contributing to completing the set plan.

Senior Lieutenant Colonel Vuong Thanh Trieu, Deputy Head of the Political Department of An Giang Provincial Military Command, representing the DNA biological sample taking team, thanked the concern and encouragement of local leaders and said that this is a great source of encouragement for officers and staff to feel secure in performing their duties. The team will continue to promote the spirit of responsibility, strictly comply with professional procedures, closely coordinate with relevant forces, determined to complete the sample taking on schedule, ensure quality, contributing to the effective implementation of the 500-day and night peak campaign, gradually identifying the identities of martyrs who lack information, meeting the aspirations of relatives of martyrs' families and expressing the morality of "Drinking water, remembering the source", "Gratitude" of the nation.

This is a practical activity in response to the 500 days and nights Campaign to promote the search, repatriation and identification of martyrs' remains. According to the plan, the sampling phase will be implemented from July 16 to August 6, 2026. Tri Ton Martyrs' Cemetery currently has 1,185 martyrs' graves, of which it is expected to take biological samples from 953 graves that have not been identified or lack information to serve DNA testing.
