According to Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station, the rainfall measured on May 25 at Trang Bom rainfall point was 9.4 mm, rain from 4:55 PM to 5:35 PM.
Some neighboring areas had heavier rain, the Giang Dien intersection area, Quang Bien market on National Highway 1A was locally flooded.
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Huy - Director of Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station said that this is a rare phenomenon, but not a strange phenomenon.
Explaining this phenomenon, Director of Dong Nai Hydrometeorological Station Nguyen Phuoc Huy added: Ice rain is formed due to the conflict between hot and cold air flows, creating an extremely strong convection current. This process pushes water vapor to a very high altitude, where the temperature is below 0 degrees Celsius, causing water vapor to freeze into ice particles.
Currently, Dong Nai city has entered the early rainy season, but at noon today (May 25) in the Trang Bom area it is still hot. Therefore, rain then appeared accompanied by hail (sometimes accompanied by thunderstorms, strong gusts of wind), Mr. Huy added.
