Restoring the excavated site
Thua Thien - Hue Tunnel Brick Joint Stock Company No. 1 at No. 56 Ly Nhan Tong, Kim Tra ward (Hue City) used to operate for a long time on a land area of more than 3.1ha. However, the factory has expired its land lease and is no longer in accordance with the plan, but production activities will still last until early 2026.
Since the beginning of 2026, Lao Dong Newspaper has had a series of articles reflecting the situation of degraded factories, raw materials, materials and scrap gathered outdoors, generating dust, affecting the environment and people's lives, and surrounding schools.
After the reflections, local authorities and functional agencies repeatedly inspected and requested the enterprise to stop operating, dismantle the works, move machinery and equipment and return the ground.
During the process of enterprise relocation, reporters continued to record many excavators and heavy trucks operating inside the factory premises. Clay was dug up, shoveled onto trucks and then transported to another brick factory for storage. This activity caused some areas in the premises to be dug deep, forming large holes.
Explaining the above issue, a representative of Thua Thien - Hue Tunnel Brick Joint Stock Company No. 1 affirmed that the amount of soil excavated is the enterprise's property. According to this person, previously the factory area had many ponds and lakes, the ground was not flat. During the process of purchasing raw materials, a part of clay was gathered at these ponds and lakes. When dismantling and relocating assets, the enterprise dug to recover the amount of raw material soil that had been gathered before.
However, through site inspection, Kim Tra Ward People's Committee determined that the enterprise had dug about 2,000m2 of soil, with a location 2-2.5m deeper than the current concrete foundation level. Local authorities requested the enterprise to level the excavated part and restore the ground according to the common foundation level.
According to records, up to now, the dismantling and relocation of assets has been completed, and the enterprise has restored the ground as required by the local government. In the minutes of land handover on the ground, the land area has an area of 31,349.9m2. All brick kilns, factories, and production facilities have been dismantled; machinery, equipment, production lines, transport vehicles and raw materials have also been moved out of the premises. The land was handed over to the Project Management Board for Construction Investment Area 2 for management, with the witness of Kim Tra Ward People's Committee.
After the scene of smoke and dust, the land is waiting to revive
Mr. Nguyen Xuan Khanh - Deputy Head of the Economic, Infrastructure and Urban Department of Kim Tra ward - informed that the dismantling, relocation of assets and site clearance of the enterprise have been completed. This is the result after the local government strengthened inspection, worked and requested the enterprise to implement the contents according to regulations, including issues reflected by Lao Dong Newspaper.
“After the reflection of Lao Dong Newspaper, the locality has coordinated with relevant units to inspect and request the enterprise to terminate operations, dismantle works, relocate assets and return the ground. Up to now, the land has been handed over for management” - Mr. Khanh said.
According to Mr. Khanh, after receiving the land plot, the local government will coordinate with relevant agencies to develop a management and exploitation plan in accordance with the plan.
