Mr. Mai Van Dung - Chairman of Thach Ha Town People's Committee - said that on June 19, Thach Ha Town People's Committee carried out construction to replace the broken dam Xa culvert.
"The installation has been completed, ensuring safe operation, there is no longer a worry about flooding when the tide rises," Mr. Dung shared.
According to Mr. Dung, the cost of replacing this new salinity-prevention sewer was previously estimated at about 70 million VND, the new sewer is made of composite like the material of the old broken lid.

Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper reported that on May 30, the Dai Xa culvert break in Thach Ha town caused dozens of households with rice in their fields that were being harvested and about to be harvested to be wet and contaminated with saltwater.
Dap Xa culvert has the effect of preventing salinity, keeping sweeteners, and draining floodwaters. The sewer gate broke, causing saltwater from the Cay River to flow into the fields when the tide rose, and when the tide receded, the water flowed all the way back from the fields to the river.

The incident has caused many farmers in residential groups 8, 10, and 11 in Thach Ha town to worry that more than ten hectares of their rice fields will be contaminated with saltwater, making it difficult to cultivate this Summer - Autumn crop.
