The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction has just sent a document to relevant units regarding the urgent inspection and repair of damaged traffic infrastructure in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, in the past, the implementation of Metro Line 2 project (Ben Thanh - Tham Luong) on main routes such as Cach Mang Thang 8, Pham Hong Thai, Truong Chinh... still had many shortcomings.
Many barriers occupy the road surface, causing traffic congestion; the road surface after restoration is not technically guaranteed, lacking hygiene at the construction site and warning signs are damaged, causing frustration for people.

To overcome this situation, the Department of Construction requires the Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway Management Board (MAUR) to direct contractors to strictly comply with traffic safety regulations when constructing on the road under construction; fully arrange a system of signs, warning lights, and traffic regulation forces.
Units need to urgently repair and replace old and dilapidated fences and information signs; restore flat and smooth road surfaces; maintain environmental hygiene and safety in the construction area; and speed up the progress to shorten the time of occupying the road surface, reducing the impact on traffic.
According to MAUR, the relocation of technical infrastructure to serve Metro Line 2 (including electricity, water supply and drainage, lighting and trees) is being implemented at 12 locations along the route, reaching about 61% of the volume and expected to be completed by the end of 2025. This is a condition for Metro Line 2 to be able to start construction on January 15, 2026.
Not only Metro No. 2, through inspection, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction also discovered many shortcomings in the projects at An Phu intersection and My Thuy intersection - two key projects invested by the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board.
At the An Phu intersection (including the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, Luong Dinh Cua Street and Mai Chi Tho Street), the road surface has been damaged for a long time, not repaired in time, many flooded areas have not been treated for a long time, causing serious insecurity and congestion.

The My Thuy intersection area is also in a similar situation, with degraded road surfaces and many places with stagnant water, greatly affecting the traffic of people and vehicles.
In this situation, the Department of Construction requested the Traffic Department to strengthen inspection, forcing the contractor to urgently repair and re-establish the road surface outside the fence to ensure flatness, smooth traffic, and no water accumulation.
Regarding progress, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has assigned the Traffic Department to ensure the completion of the N2 bridge branch of the An Phu intersection (right turn from the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway to Mai Chi Tho Street) before December 31, 2025, and the HC1-02 underpass (direct connection from the Expressway to Mai Chi Tho) before January 15, 2026.
For My Thuy intersection, the right turns from Dong Van Cong to Vo Chi Cong and from Dong Van Cong to Nguyen Thi Dinh must be completed before January 31, 2026; the remaining items and Ky Ha 4 bridge must be completed in February 2026.
