On August 23, the People's Committee of Thanh Tung commune, Ca Mau province reported the damage caused by the fire that caused damage of more than 20 billion VND.
Previously, at around 11:45 a.m. on August 22, a fire broke out from a kiosk of a household at Thanh Tung market, Ca Mau province. The fire spread quickly because the business area contained many flammable items such as fabric, clothes, and household items of neighboring households. It was not until 13:20 on the same day that the authorities controlled the fire.

Some people at the scene said that before the fire, Mr. P and Mrs. T lived together as husband and wife at the kiosk rented by Mrs. T in Thanh Tung market.
During their time together, there was a conflict due to jealousy, so an argument broke out, Mr. P used a knife to slash Mrs. T., injuring her. The victim ran outside and was taken to the emergency room by local people. Immediately afterwards, Mr. P opened a large gas tank lock valve in the kiosk, causing a fierce fire and quickly spreading to adjacent kiosks.
The fire did not cause any human casualties but affected 31 households, of which 23 households were doing business directly and 8 households used kiosks as accommodation. Many households suffered heavy damage such as Mr. Bui Huu Ba (8 kiosks, damage over 4 billion VND), Mr. Phan Hoang Kiem (3 kiosks, damage over 3 billion VND), Mr. Dang Minh Chanh (3 kiosks, damage over 3 billion VND)...

Currently, 18 households do not have their own houses, of which 3 households are without housing. Thanh Tung Commune People's Committee has temporarily borrowed houses in the market area as temporary accommodation for affected households. The authorities also mobilized forces to support the cleaning of the scene to help the people.
Ca Mau province has established many delegations to visit, encourage, and at the same time direct localities to arrange accommodation and promptly overcome the consequences.
