According to Official Dispatch 38/TTg-QHĐP in 2026, the Prime Minister requests ministries and sectors to urgently implement the adjustment of pensions and social insurance allowances according to Conclusion 206-KL/TW, with the completion milestone being no later than March 2026.
The Prime Minister requests: Deputy Prime Ministers directly direct the fields in charge; Ministers and heads of ministerial-level agencies closely monitor the situation, develop specific plans, ensure progress; Chairmen of People's Committees of provinces and cities develop appropriate implementation plans at the local level.
Notably, in STT 5 Section I Appendix attached to Official Dispatch 38/TTg-QHĐP, the Government assigned the task of adjusting the base salary, pension and allowances in accordance with the spirit of Conclusion 206-KL/TW.
Thus, the deadline for adjusting pensions and social insurance allowances for employees is March 2026.
According to current regulations, employees are entitled to a pension when they meet the conditions on retirement age and social insurance contribution period.
Specifically, employees need to have at least 20 years of social insurance contributions and reach retirement age according to the current retirement age increase roadmap.
In case of not having enough 20 years of social insurance contributions, employees can continue to participate in voluntary social insurance to be eligible for monthly pensions.
When eligible for retirement, employees need to prepare documents including: Social Insurance book; Decision to retire for retirement benefits (for people currently working); Application for pension benefits; Other related documents as required by the Social Insurance agency (if any).
After receiving complete and valid dossiers, the social insurance agency will resolve and pay pensions according to regulations.
The adjustment of pensions and social insurance allowances according to Conclusion 206-KL/TW is expected to continue to improve income and stabilize the lives of millions of workers and retirees nationwide.
