As part of the Vietnam - Bac Lieu Salt Craft Festival event series in 2025, on the afternoon of March 6, Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment to organize a ceremony to open the technical traffic of the two routes under the Dong Hai Salt Broth Infrastructure Upgrade Project.
Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee Huynh Huu Tri emphasized that, with the consensus of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), the Provincial People's Committee approved the Project to increase the value of salt production and processing for the period 2021 - 2030.
The goal of the Project is to maintain 1,600 hectares of salt production, with an output of 66,000 tons/year by 2030. In particular, investing in infrastructure for salt production areas plays a particularly important role. With the attention and support of the Ministry, component project No. 7 on renovation and upgrading of Dong Hai saltwater bronze was approved for investment in 2023. The scale of the project and items are the construction of 5 dykes combined with a 14.7 km long traffic road, 20 concrete bridges and 26 box culverts, with a total investment of 127 billion VND and is being vigorously implemented.
The two routes that are technically opened to traffic are Trai So - Chua Linh Ung with a total length of 2.56km and the Dan Quan Bridge - Pumping Station No. 3 route with a length of 3.72km, which will start construction in 2024, with a total cost of 24.3 billion VND.
After 12 months of urgent construction, the project was basically completed and met the technical conditions for traffic opening, contributing to improving production capacity, improving the lives of farmers and developing the local socio-economy.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Lieu Provincial People's Committee requested the Project Management Board to closely coordinate with contractors to speed up the completion of the remaining items, ensuring the handover of the project on time; the People's Committee of Dong Hai district quickly received, managed and operated the project effectively, serving the lives and production of the people.
Bac Lieu province also proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment consider including the project "Renovation and upgrading of saltwater infrastructure in Hoa Binh and Dong Hai districts" in the public investment plan for the period 2026 - 2030, with a total estimated capital of 150 billion VND.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, leaders of the Ministry, province and delegates visited and inspected the salt production method in the salt fields of Long Dien Dong commune, Dong Hai district, Bac Lieu province.
