On January 15, An Giang Provincial People's Council held its 8th session (specialized session) to approve 3 important draft resolutions. Including a Resolution on approving the list of works and projects to be recovered land to be implemented in 2026 in An Giang province.
For the Duong Dong area centralized wastewater treatment plant project. Regarding location, scale, and land acquisition area, it is located in Cay Thong Ngoai Cua Duong Quarter, Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province; the land use scale of the project is 2,805 ha and the land acquisition area is 2,805 ha of other land.
According to An Giang Provincial People's Committee, the reason for the adjustment is that according to the Phu Quoc general plan, 4 locations have been identified for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Project. However, the previously selected location (in Quarter 9 Duong Dong, Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province with a project land use scale of 9.60 ha and a recovered land area of 4.60 ha of other land) incurred large compensation and site clearance costs, encountered many difficulties in organizing implementation and affected the project implementation progress.
Therefore, adjusting the Project to the new location mentioned above (in Cay Thong Ngoai Cua Duong Quarter, Phu Quoc Special Zone, An Giang province with the land use scale of the project being 2,805 ha and the land area recovered is 2,805 ha of other land) still belongs to one of the 4 locations identified in the Phu Quoc general plan (the project implementation location has been approved by the Phu Quoc Economic Zone Management Board for zoning plan 1/2000 according to Decision No. 02/QD-BQLKKTPQ dated January 5, 2026).
This location has a smaller area scale, lower cost of compensation and site clearance but still meets the project's treatment capacity requirements (according to the proposal of the Phu Quoc Economic Zone Management Board in Report No. 181/BC-BQLKKTPQ dated December 9, 2025 and Report No. 200/BC-BQLKKTPQ dated December 17, 2025).
