On June 26, information from Nghe An Provincial Police said that they are implementing a peak period of collecting DNA biological samples from relatives of martyrs to serve the work of identifying the identities of martyrs' remains with unclear information.
On the first day of implementation, sampling was organized simultaneously at 7 locations in Truong Vinh, Tan Mai wards and Dai Dong, Do Luong, Dien Chau, Tuong Duong, Tam Hop communes. A large number of relatives of martyrs came to the collection points to complete dossiers and provide biological samples according to the instructions of functional forces.
At each point, police officers coordinate with the health sector to carry out the steps of receiving dossiers, comparing information and taking DNA samples according to professional procedures, ensuring accuracy, safety and creating convenience for people. For elderly relatives with weak health or unable to go to the gathering point, functional forces organize to take samples on the spot.
Nghe An is a locality with a large number of martyrs through the resistance wars, but to this day there are still many remains that have not been identified or lack information about graves. Therefore, building a DNA relative database is considered an important solution to serve comparison, gradually identifying martyrs with missing information.
For many families, participating in DNA sampling not only contributes to the implementation of the State's policy but also sends the hope of finding the names of loved ones who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland. Each collected biological sample will be added to the national DNA data bank, creating more scientific basis for the verification and repatriation of martyrs' remains.
According to the plan, from June 25 to July 1, Nghe An Provincial Police will collect 22,221 DNA biological samples of relatives of martyrs in 130 communes and wards throughout the province. All data after completion will be updated to the national database, serving the comparison and identification of martyrs' remains with unclear information.
