According to Hoa Binh Hydropower Company, at 10:00 p.m. on September 22, the upstream water level of Hoa Binh Lake was at 117.08 m, the flow to the lake was 4,040 m3/s, and the flow discharged downstream was 7,520 m3/s.
Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 7107 of the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Hoa Binh Hydropower Company closed the third bottom spillway at 01:00 on September 23. At the same time, it continued to maintain the two bottom spillways.
After closing 1 floodgate, the total water flow discharged downstream including through the spillway and the power generation flow through the generator is about 5,500 m3/s.
Previously, on September 22, Hoa Binh Hydropower Plant opened 3 flood gates consecutively at 12:00, 13:00 and 15:00.
On the same day, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development also sent a document to the People's Committees of the following provinces and cities: Hoa Binh, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hanoi, Bac Ninh, Hai Duong, Hai Phong, Hung Yen, Ha Nam, Thai Binh, Nam Dinh, Ninh Binh regarding ensuring downstream safety when operating the Hoa Binh hydropower reservoir.
