At noon on September 22, speaking with reporters, Mr. Bui Van Thu - Acting Chairman of Tuan Dao Commune People's Committee informed that in Rai hamlet, there was heavy rain from last night (September 21) to this morning (September 22), leading to 6 more households being in the danger zone, at high risk of landslides.
According to Mr. Thu, the authorities have urgently evacuated the 6 households mentioned above to their relatives’ houses to ensure safety. Up to now, 66 households with 304 people have had to be urgently evacuated to avoid the risk of landslides (50 households were evacuated in the first phase, 10 households were evacuated in the second phase).
Previously, on September 20, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province signed a decision to declare an emergency situation regarding natural disasters causing landslides in Rai hamlet, Tuan Dao commune, Lac Son district.
In the above area, after the circulation of storm No. 3 in 2024 with many prolonged heavy rains, many cracks and subsidence appeared. There were many cracks and subsidence ranging from 1 - 3m long, 2 - 3m deep and about 800m long. In addition, there were many small cracks, with an area of affected about 7ha. The subsidence affected 111 households with 539 people.
Many households have cracked houses, sunken foundations, damaged houses and a high risk of landslides at any time. It is estimated that the amount of rock and soil if collapsed is about 7 to 8 million m3.
Up to now, the cracks and subsidence points are still continuing to grow wider and there is a risk of widespread landslides, especially when it rains and the soil and rocks are saturated.
