Tri An Hydropower Company said it will increase the amount of water released through the spillway to regulate the Tri An hydropower reservoir based on the water level downstream at Bien Hoa hydrological station having passed the peak of the high tide and is gradually decreasing, based on the water flow to the reservoir, to ensure flood prevention capacity.
According to the announcement of Tri An Hydropower Company, at 8:00 a.m. on October 13, the water flow through the spillway will increase to 320 m3/s, the water flow through the power turbine will increase from 750 m3/s to 820 m3/s, the total water flow downstream will be from 1,070 m3/s to 1,140 m3/s.
Depending on the weather, water flow to the lake, water level of Tri An hydroelectric reservoir, water level downstream at Bien Hoa hydrological station, the company can change the water flow discharged through the spillway.
Previously, on October 7, Tri An Hydropower Plant reduced the water flow through the spillway to 160m3/s due to the increase in the water level downstream of the Dong Nai River during high tides.
On the morning of October 13, the water level of An Trieu hydroelectric reservoir reached nearly 61.8m.
Tri An Hydropower Plant has 4 generators, with a total designed capacity of 400MW. This is the largest hydropower project in the Southern region, contributing greatly to the national grid, helping to regulate domestic and production water sources, push salinity and regulate floods in downstream areas.
