From August 26 to 29, 2026, Song Bung Hydropower Company will implement a program to propagate disaster prevention and mitigation, with local authorities and related units in the downstream area of Song Bung 2 and Song Bung 4 Hydropower Plants. Activities to raise community awareness about disaster prevention and control, reservoir operation, flood discharge warning and proactive disaster prevention and mitigation.
Implementing Decision No. 25/QD-TDSB dated January 23, 2026 of Song Bung Hydropower Company on issuing the Plan for disaster prevention and control and search and rescue in 2026, the Company organizes propaganda, inspection and coordination activities in the areas of Ben Giang, Nam Giang, La Dee, La Eee communes and La Eee Border Guard Station in Da Nang city.
This is a practical activity in the context before the 2026 rainy and storm season, contributing to strengthening coordination between the Company and commune authorities, agencies, units and people in downstream areas; and creating more information channels for warning and regulating reservoirs to be quickly and promptly transmitted to the community.
One of the key contents of the program is working with Public Service Service Centers in communes in the dam area to coordinate in supplementing information channels to serve reservoir regulation notification and warning. In addition to the existing information system, strengthening information transmission through the loudspeaker system and local information platforms will contribute to improving people's access to information when there are situations related to reservoir operation.
In parallel with propaganda work, the Company coordinates with commune authorities to inspect the current status of the flood drainage corridor, promptly review and handle existing problems if any; and inspect the downstream information warning system of Song Bung 2 Hydropower Dam. These are important contents to proactively identify risks that may affect flood drainage capacity and communication efficiency in reservoir regulation situations.
In particular, the Company coordinates with communes in the downstream area of Song Bung 2 Hydropower Plant to organize a communication conference on disaster prevention and mitigation in the downstream area in 2026. Through this activity, people are propagated and disseminated content related to the role of hydropower projects, reservoir operating principles and the meaning of reservoir regulation in flood reduction for the downstream area, thereby raising awareness of proactive disaster prevention.
Mr. Nguyen Minh Van - Deputy Head of the Administration and Labor Department, Song Bung Hydropower Company, directly presented and explained the contents in the propaganda sessions to the people.
The information exchanged directly also helps people better understand that reservoir safety is not only the responsibility of the management and operation unit but also requires the coordination and proactiveness of the government and downstream community. When they grasp the information and implement the instructions correctly, people will be more proactive in protecting their lives and property and limiting risks that may occur during the rainy and flood season.
In the La Eee area, the Company worked with the La Eee Border Guard Station to review the Coordination Regulations in warning and inspection work, ensuring safety in operating and regulating the spillway of Song Bung 2 reservoir. The working delegation also inspected and cleared vines and trees in the warning station area to ensure safe and stable operating conditions of the system.
Speaking at the program, representatives of local leaders acknowledged the proactive and responsible coordination of Song Bung Hydropower Company in propaganda, disaster prevention and mitigation in downstream areas. Local representatives said that ensuring safety for people before natural disasters is the common responsibility of the government, functional forces, project management and operation units and the residential community; in which, information, warning and raising people's awareness need to be carried out regularly, especially before and during the rainy and storm season.
According to local leaders, the characteristics of mountainous areas are still difficult, the terrain is wide, divided, and landslides occur frequently, causing traffic jams; power outages, weak or unstable phone signals in some areas can also affect the ability to receive information when an emergency situation occurs. Therefore, in addition to the information and warning channels of the Company and the government, it is necessary to promote the role of shock teams for disaster prevention and control and search and rescue, the Commune Civil Defense Command, Party Cell Secretaries, Village Heads and forces at the grassroots level to promptly transmit information to each residential area and each household. The locality wishes to continue to closely coordinate with Song Bung Hydropower Company in exchanging information, propaganda, reviewing risky areas and preparing response plans, thereby improving the ability to proactively prevent and minimize damage caused by natural disasters.
In addition to professional tasks, the program also demonstrates the spirit of companionship of Song Bung Hydropower Company with the government and people of downstream areas. Proactively going to the grassroots level, directly exchanging, propagating and conducting field surveys helps strengthen understanding, trust and coordination between businesses and the local community.
