The Ho Chi Minh road project section Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection is nearly 29km long. Construction started in June 2024 with a total investment of more than 1,600 billion VND.
In which, the section through Thai Nguyen province is 11.51km long; through Tuyen Quang province is about 17.1km. The starting point of the project is in Cho Chu town (Km 245+878), the ending point is at Trung Son intersection (Km 276+135.5).
The project is invested on a scale of a grade III mountain road, roadbed width of 9m, design speed of 60km/h.

PV recorded that after nearly 2 years of implementation, the shape of the trillion-dong road connecting Thai Nguyen and Tuyen Quang has gradually emerged.
At the construction site section passing through Thai Nguyen province, more than 500 engineers, workers and machinery and equipment were mobilized, deploying items simultaneously.
Construction teams stretch across the entire route, deploying items from roadbed, bridges and culverts to road surface structure.
Mr. Le Chi Nghia - Ho Chi Minh Road Project Management Board, Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection, said that so far, the roadbed section of over 12km belonging to construction package No. 2 in Thai Nguyen has completed the entire volume.
Contractors are focusing on asphalt concrete paving. At the same time, increase manpower, equipment, and organize overtime construction to ensure progress.
Currently, bridge projects on the route are also being accelerated. Most have completed the main structure and moved to the completion phase.
According to the construction contractors, the asphalt concrete paving item at the project is being accelerated, with the goal of completion before April 30th. The completion of the asphalt paving layer on schedule is associated with quality requirements.
Many technical solutions to improve durability, extend road surface life, and limit damage during exploitation have been implemented.

To date, the disbursement rate has reached over 60%. The Ho Chi Minh road project section Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2026.
When completed, the road will contribute to completing the inter-regional transportation network, connecting the midlands and mountainous areas of the North with the plains and major economic centers.
This will be an important vertical axis, helping to reduce pressure on national highways, especially National Highway 3.
According to the plan, the Ho Chi Minh road project section Cho Chu - Trung Son intersection will be completed and put into operation at the end of 2025.
However, encountering some obstacles forced the project to postpone the milestone to the finish line. The Ministry of Construction has issued a decision approving the project adjustment, postponing the completion time to the third quarter of 2026.
