Many pressures from costs and traffic organization
These days, at the Ring Road 1 project site, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, the construction atmosphere is always maintained urgently. Construction teams are organized flexibly, divided into shifts continuously, taking advantage of each hour to closely follow the set schedule. The immediate goal is to technically open the left-sided route by the end of June and aim to complete the entire route in 2026.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Le Ba Luong - Deputy Construction Site Commander of Ring Road 1 package, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section (Construction & Trading Joint Stock Company 68) - said that the unit is making maximum efforts to meet the general progress of the project.
According to Mr. Luong, the plan is to technically open each section on the left side of the route by June, then organize the construction of the right lane, on the De La Thanh side. This is to take advantage of the ground and maintain continuous construction of the next items.
Although progress is being accelerated, the construction process still faces many difficulties. Mr. Luong said that one of the major challenges comes from market price fluctuations when the cost of materials and supplies escalates. "Proviners continuously propose price adjustments, forcing contractors to review and adjust contract appendices to suit reality" - Mr. Luong said.
In addition, the specific nature of construction in the inner city area makes the transportation of materials, materials and waste soil very limited. The De La Thanh line is currently organized for one-way traffic, so vehicles serving construction can mainly operate only at night.
However, even during this time frame, traffic conditions are not favorable. At many times, transport vehicles have to go in long circles, prolonging travel time, directly affecting work progress. Faced with that reality, contractors are forced to adjust construction plans, increase shifts, increase crews, and arrange many parallel construction teams to compensate for the affected time.
Accelerate the construction of overpasses, limiting the impact on the progress of the entire route
Not only the Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, on the entire Ring Road 1, overpass items at Lang Ha and Nguyen Chi Thanh intersections are also being implemented simultaneously.
At these construction sites, the lower structures such as foundation pits and drilled piles are being urgently deployed. On average, about 50 workers work every day, organizing continuous 3 shifts of construction. For items requiring high progress, the contractor arranges construction day and night.
According to the construction unit, the overpass at the Lang Ha - Giang Vo intersection was started in mid-June 2020. However, in the process of implementation, a situation of overlapping ground between the bridge and road construction units has arisen. Currently, relevant parties are actively coordinating to remove obstacles, in order to minimize the impact on the overall progress of the project.
Mr. Tieu Van Huy - Commander of Lang Ha - Giang Vo overpass project - informed that the unit is closely following the set plan. Initially, the construction time was expected to be 17 months, but after the direction of the Hanoi Party Committee and the Project Management Board, the progress has been shortened to 12 months. "The progress of both the bridge and the road sections is currently being accelerated. However, due to the narrow construction area, the units are deploying simultaneously, so it is easy to overlap the ground. We are closely coordinating to organize reasonable construction, ensuring the overall progress" - Mr. Huy said.
The Ring Road 1 project, Hoang Cau - Voi Phuc section, is more than 2.2km long, with a cross-section of 50m, connecting Hoang Cau intersection (Cat Linh - La Thanh - Yen Lang) with Voi Phuc intersection. This is one of the vital traffic axes of the Capital.
The project has a total investment of more than 7,200 billion VND from the city budget, approved from December 2017, expected to be completed in 2020. However, due to many problems, the project has been delayed for many years. Recently, the construction progress has been accelerated again, igniting the expectation of soon completing the road, thereby contributing to reducing the pressure of prolonged capital congestion in the inner city of Hanoi.
