According to Lao Dong, at noon on the 29th of Tet, on the streets of Can Tho City such as Tran Van Hoai, Hoang Van Thu, etc., traders and gardeners simultaneously reduced the prices of flowers and ornamental plants. The buying and selling atmosphere was much more bustling and urgent.
While people were able to buy their favorite flower baskets at reasonable prices, the vendors were also happy to receive support and quickly packed their goods to go home to celebrate Tet.
Going to the market on the 29th day of Tet, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhan (Ninh Kieu district, Can Tho city) shared that this year, the economic situation is still difficult, so his family mainly buys flowers and ornamental plants at affordable prices.
“Tet comes once a year, so I took the opportunity to buy flowers to decorate my house before. But today, when I went to the market, I saw beautiful flowers at a cheap price, so I stopped by to buy more. Partly to decorate, partly because I wanted to support the traders and gardeners so they could go home early for Tet,” said Mr. Nhan.
In a rush on the last day of business before closing his shop, Vo Ngoc An - a flower vendor on Tran Van Hoai Street (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) - was happy to receive last-minute support from the people.
“Since it was the last market day, I decided to sell off my goods and go home. From morning until now, many people have come to buy flowers, each person choosing 2-3 pairs on average. This is a great joy for us. In about an hour, I will be able to clean up the goods to return the batch to go home to celebrate Tet with my family,” said Mr. An.
Selling paper flowers for Tet on Nguyen Van Cu Street (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City), Mr. Nguyen Van Truyen assessed that this year's business situation is relatively good.
“The purchasing power is not too high, but thanks to the support of the people, after deducting the costs of renting lots and transportation, I still have a little surplus this Tet. Today is the last market day, if I sell a little more, I will return the lots home to go shopping, prepare for offerings, and welcome New Year's Eve,” said Mr. Truyen.
