On the afternoon of September 14, Mr. Do Van Luu, Secretary of the Party Committee of Nghia Do Commune, Bao Yen District, Lao Cai Province, said that the authorities had just found the body of Ms. Nguyen Thi P (born in 1966 in Na Khuong Village). This is one of two victims missing due to a landslide in Nghia Do Commune during the recent flood.
Currently, the Party Committee and the government of Nghia Do commune are focusing on supporting the family in arranging the funeral and burying the victim according to local customs.
Previously, at around 10am the same day, forces found the body of victim Hoang Thi P (born in 1993, Na Khuong village) who went missing due to a landslide.
Nghia Do commune belongs to Bao Yen district, Lao Cai province - a land with rich and diverse ecological and human tourism resources.
In the first 6 months of 2024 alone, the number of tourists coming to Nghia Do is estimated at 28,000, 27 times higher than in 2020 and 7 times higher than in 2023, of which international tourists are about 2,000.
As of 6:00 p.m. on September 14, storms in Lao Cai have left 118 dead and 50 missing, of which 64 were in Bao Yen district and 35 were missing.
