On September 22, Coast Guard ship 2011 (under the Coast Guard Region 3 Command) found the body of a fisherman (a victim of the sunken fishing boat BV-99778.TS) drifting at sea; and proceeded to hand it over to SAR ship 413 (under the Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Center Region III - Vietnam Maritime Administration) according to regulations.
After more than 2 days and nights of searching in harsh weather conditions, with waves of level 6-7, gusts of level 8, at around 10am on September 22, Coast Guard ship 2011 discovered the body drifting, and proceeded to approach, rescue, and hand it over. At around 12:50pm the same day, the body was brought ashore to be handed over to the authorities and family.
Currently, Coast Guard ship 2011 is continuing to coordinate with functional forces and other fishing boats to search for the remaining missing people.
According to information from the Command of Coast Guard Region 3, at around 1:30 p.m. on September 19, in an area about 22 nautical miles southeast of Con Dao, a collision occurred between the cargo ship Transformer Ol (Panama nationality) and the fishing boat BV-99778.TS.
The collision caused the fishing boat BV-99778.TS to sink, with all 14 crew members falling into the sea. However, thanks to the timely support of nearby vessels, 12 fishermen were rescued and brought ashore for emergency treatment, while 2 fishermen remained missing.
Upon receiving the information, the Command of Coast Guard Region 3 dispatched ship 2011 to urgently approach the scene, contact the ship Transformer Ol and other vehicles operating near the area to organize a search for the two missing fishermen.
