On the afternoon of November 19, during a search in the landslide area of Hung Son commune, Da Nang city, the rescue team discovered the body of a missing victim floating on the surface of rocks and soil, due to prolonged heavy rain causing the mud and rocks to flow down, exposing the body.
From early afternoon, the weather was calm, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Kim Tuan, Deputy Commander of the City Military Command, went directly to the scene to grasp the situation and direct the search force.
The City Military Command mobilized 50 officers and soldiers, divided into many working groups, organized searches at each end and in each direction, and closely followed the areas suspected of the victims.
Due to steep terrain, weak rocks and the potential risk of landslides, the force cannot use mechanical machinery, all tasks are done by hand. Officers and soldiers took turns clearing rocks and soil, expanding the area to approach and protect the scene.
The professional teams also deployed sniffer dogs to search for traces around; at the same time, flycams continuously flew from above, supporting the localization of suspicious points and coordinating with ground forces.
Because the body had begun to decompose, initial identification had many difficulties. The authorities have protected the scene, brought the body out and handed it over to the professional agency for examination to verify the victim's identity according to regulations.
At the scene, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Kim Tuan requested the forces to continue to maintain high vigilance and be absolutely safe during the search, while encouraging officers and soldiers to coordinate smoothly between ground forces, dogs and flycams, making efforts to search for the remaining victims.
Currently, the search in Hung Son commune is still taking place urgently, persistently, scientifically, with the determination to soon complete the rescue mission.
