In the late afternoon of May 9, in the Thuong Mai sea area, about 35 nautical miles from the shore, the Riverine Police Team in coordination with the Co To Special Zone Police and fisherman Phung Van Vinh (born 1979, residing in Phong Coc ward), owner of fishing vessel QN-09083-TS, found Mr. Le Van Ben (born 1968, residing in Ninh Binh province).
Immediately after that, Mr. Ben was brought ashore for monitoring and health care at Cam Pha Regional General Hospital, Cua Ong ward.
Currently, Mr. Ben's health and spirit have stabilized.
Previously, as Lao Dong newspaper reported, at about 1 am on May 9, Mr. Nguyen Van Tung (born 1968, residing in zone 4, Co To special zone) was driving a waterway vehicle with an unclear registration number, carrying Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung (born 2001, residing in Thanh Hoa province), Mr. Le Van Ut (born 1990, residing in Can Tho city) and Mr. Le Van Ben to the Southwest area of Ha Mai island and Co To island to exploit aquatic and seafood.
When the vehicle moved about 7 nautical miles from the shore, it encountered bad weather, big waves caused the ship to sink. Mr. Tung, Mr. Hung and Mr. Ut clung to a foam buoy, while Mr. Ben clung to another buoy waiting for rescue.
After that, 3 fishermen were discovered and safely rescued by the fishermen's fishing boat. Mr. Ben went missing at sea.
Immediately upon receiving the information, the Riverine Police Team, Traffic Police Department of Quang Ninh Provincial Police mobilized 3 boats and 12 officers and soldiers to urgently arrive at the scene, coordinating with functional forces, fishermen and fishing trade unions to organize search and rescue.
