On May 9, according to information from the People's Committee of Co To Special Zone, functional forces in the special zone are deploying searches for missing fishermen after a fishing boat sinking occurred in the sea area about 7 nautical miles from Co To island.
According to initial information, at about 1 am on the same day, a fishing boat owned by Mr. N.V. Tung (58 years old, residing in zone 4, Co To special zone) was fishing at sea when it encountered a hull burst incident, water flooded in, causing the vehicle to sink.
At the time of the incident, there were 4 fishermen on board.
According to Mr. Tung's account, when the boat was about to sink, all 4 people left the vehicle and drifted at sea. After that, Mr. Tung and 2 others were discovered and safely rescued by a fishing boat, and one person is missing.
Immediately after receiving the information, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Co To Special Zone directed functional forces to coordinate with fishermen, fishing unions, and mobilize ships to organize the search for missing people.
The Civil Defense Command of Co To Special Zone also coordinated with the Coast Guard Region 1 Command to deploy forces to participate in search and rescue.
