On September 12, the Command of Naval Region 5 said that after nearly two days of coordinating with forces to organize the search and rescue of ship N.Q 19 which sank in the waters of Nam Du (An Giang), the search force found the bodies of 2 missing crew members.
Previously, at 3:55 pm on September 10, the Command of Naval Region 5 received information that tugboat N.Q 19 sank in the area about 12 nautical miles southeast of Nam Du Island. There were 3 crew members on board; 1 person was rescued, 2 people went missing.
Immediately after receiving the information, at 4:15 pm on September 10, the Command of Naval Region 5 mobilized Ship 526, Brigade 127 to quickly maneuver to the area of the distressed ship. At the scene, there were also search forces including Ship 2004, Coast Guard Region 4 Command, Border Guard force, ship N.Q 09 and ships and vehicles operating in the area to organize the search for 2 missing crew members. The search process encountered many difficulties due to bad weather, rough seas, and limited visibility.
At 7:00 AM on September 12, the search force discovered the body of the first crew member, about 250 m southeast of the sunken ship. At 9:20 AM, ship 526 continued to discover the body of the second crew member, about 400 m southeast of the sunken ship.
The two bodies were then handed over to the border guards, police and medical forces to carry out procedures according to regulations.
