On September 20, information from functional forces said that the body of a 15-year-old male student in Chau Doc, who drowned while swimming in the field with friends, had been found.
According to information from the police agency, at about 4 pm on September 19, N.T. P (15 years old, residing in Chau Doc ward, An Giang province) and two 16-year-old friends invited each other to the river area near Ban bridge (belonging to An Phu commune) to swim. Only about 15 minutes later, while going down to the water, one of the three children did not see P swimming with them, so they called each other to search together.
Realizing the unusual situation, both children shouted for people around to come to the rescue and reported to functional agencies.
Upon receiving the news, An Phu Commune Police coordinated with Vinh Hoi Dong Border Guard Station and local people to quickly arrive at the scene to organize the search.
After about 2 hours of active searching, functional forces found P's body about 20m away from Ban bridge, trapped in a nearby reeds area.
An Phu Commune Police reported the incident to An Giang Provincial Police, completed the file, and handed over the body to the family for funeral arrangements.
