On the afternoon of February 25, the People's Committee of Gio Son commune (Gio Linh district, Quang Tri province) confirmed that the body of a young man had just been discovered in Truc Kinh irrigation dam (Dong Hai village, Gio Son commune).
The victim's body was discovered at around 4:30 p.m. on February 25, and is currently being brought ashore to be handed over to his family.
Previously, at around 5:00 p.m. on February 20, N.N.P (born in 1999, residing in Gio An commune, Gio Linh district) and his friends went to the Truc Kinh dam area. N.N.P suddenly jumped into the lake and went missing.
Upon receiving the report, the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department of Quang Tri Province mobilized dozens of officers, soldiers and equipment and vehicles to the scene to search.
Many volunteer rescue teams inside and outside the province with modern equipment and machinery were also present at Truc Kinh dam to coordinate the search for the victims.
After nearly 5 days of being missing, the victim's body was found. The cause of the incident is being verified.
