DT.261 is nearly 50km long, connecting Pho Yen City, Dai Tu District and Phu Binh District. The fact that many key projects are being implemented in the West of Pho Yen City has caused an increase in the number of trucks carrying soil and construction materials through DT.261. This has caused the already narrow provincial road to become even more seriously degraded.
According to PV in early December 2024, although the road surface has been paved, it is always covered with a layer of mud. Both sides of the road are heavily rutted, forming deep ditches in some places. The section passing through the hamlets: Ba Quanh, Thong Thuong, hamlet 2, Cau Giao of Minh Duc commune is seriously degraded. The road surface is peeling and jagged, with many potholes.
In less than 30 minutes on Provincial Road 261, the reporter witnessed dozens of large trucks following each other, weaving through the rough roads. Many trucks carrying dirt fell onto the road, creating a cloud of dust.
Every time a vehicle passes, motorbikes and bicycles have to move to the side to avoid dust and dirt. Puddles of water are scattered all over the road.
Mr. Nguyen Van Toan (Pho Yen City) who regularly passes through this road said: "When it's sunny, the dust flies everywhere, and when it rains, it's muddy. It's very difficult for students to go to school here every day.
Every time I pass this road, I feel nervous because there are many heavy trucks traveling at high speed. The road has degraded, many places have sunk and peeled off.
Also upset, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lien (Pho Yen City) said that when it rains, it gets muddy and the large traffic volume makes traveling very difficult.
"Every day, hundreds of trucks travel back and forth on the route, damaging the road surface. The already narrow road is now even more degraded, posing a danger to vehicles.
"This season, it's very dusty and there are many corners with poor visibility. The potholes in the middle of the road make it even more dangerous to drive at night," Ms. Lien worried.
According to Ms. Lien, people hope to have a repair plan soon. The renovated road will help ensure traffic safety and change the face of the locality.
On December 3, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Doan - Vice Chairman of Pho Yen City People's Committee said that the city has coordinated with the Department of Transport to verify and evaluate the current status of the road.
"On that basis, the department will report to the Provincial People's Committee to propose investment and renovation plans in the coming period. Previously, it has also repaired some degraded locations on DT.261 route through the area," the leader added.
According to information from the Department of Transport of Thai Nguyen province, based on the current status of the route, the unit has recently submitted a report to the Provincial People's Committee proposing to invest in and renovate route DT.261. The implementation requires survey and approval from competent authorities.
