This directive was given by Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong at a recent meeting on the progress of investment research for group A projects.
Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong requested the Department of Finance to urgently work with Masterise Group Joint Stock Company to review and shorten the preparation steps, ensuring that the project is eligible to start construction on January 15, 2026 to celebrate the 14th National Congress of the Party.
Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee approved Masterise to study and prepare a report on the proposed investment policy for the Phu My 2 bridge project under the public-private partnership (PPP) method.
According to the investor's proposal, Phu My 2 Bridge is about 6.3 km long, including the main bridge and approach road. The starting point is expected to be at Nguyen Huu Tho Street (HCMC), the end point will connect to Lien Cang Street (Dong Nai).
The bridge is designed with 8 lanes, including 6 mechanical lanes and 2 mixed lanes. The total estimated investment capital is nearly VND13,000 billion under the construction - transfer (BT) form.
Of which, more than VND 10,700 billion will be mobilized by investors for construction and installation, and about VND 2,100 billion will be allocated from the budget of Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai to carry out site clearance work.
The investment in Phu My 2 Bridge is considered necessary and urgent, because this will be a new connecting route between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, contributing to sharing the traffic for the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway and the existing Phu My Bridge, which are often overloaded.
When completed, Phu My 2 Bridge will combine with the North - South axis (Nguyen Huu Tho) and Road 25C (Dong Nai) to form a rapid movement corridor to Long Thanh airport, shortening travel time and improving transportation capacity.
The project is also expected to promote the development of urban, industrial and logistics of Nam Sai Gon Urban Area, Nhon Trach area (Dong Nai) and neighboring areas, creating new growth momentum for both localities.
