Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road
The Nguyen Khoi bridge and road project connecting District 7, District 4 and District 1 requires nearly 11.3 hectares of land.
Of which, most of the area in District 1 and District 7 does not need to be cleared, but in District 4, the city will reclaim about 1.7 hectares of land from 123 households and 25 organizations. The total cost of compensation and resettlement support for this area is about 1,077 billion VND.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Management Board, the Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road project will submit a feasibility study report and compensation plan before December 25, 2024. The compensation disbursement plan will be completed before January 15, 2025.
The project will complete site clearance in June 2025 and start construction in July 2025.
Previously, Ho Chi Minh City planned to start construction of Nguyen Khoi bridge and road at the end of 2024, but delays in site clearance and planning adjustments caused the project to miss the deadline.
Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road has a total investment of more than 3,700 billion VND, nearly 5 km long (including 2.5 km of bridge and 2.3 km of road). The project starts from D1 road (connecting Saigon University with Nguyen Van Linh road and Him Lam residential area, District 7), then the main bridge crosses Te canal by overpass along Nguyen Khoi road. The bridge continues to cross Ben Nghe canal, connecting to Vo Van Kiet road (District 1).
In addition to the main route, the project includes branches connecting to the lower roads of Tran Xuan Soan, Ton That Thuyet and Vo Van Kiet.
Nguyen Khoi Bridge and Road will be completed in 2027, creating a new road axis connecting the South with the center of Ho Chi Minh City.
Binh Tien Bridge and Road
The Binh Tien bridge and road project is one of five key projects being upgraded and expanded under the BOT (build-operate-transfer) model, thanks to the special mechanism from Resolution 98.
According to the pre-feasibility study report, Binh Tien bridge and road has a total length of 3.66 km, starting from the Binh Tien - Pham Van Chi intersection (District 6), crossing Vo Van Kiet Avenue, Tau Hu Canal, Cay Sung Street (District 8), Doi Canal, Ta Quang Buu Street and connecting to Nguyen Van Linh Avenue (Binh Chanh District).
The entire route is proposed to be built on an elevated road with a width of 30 to 40 m, accommodating 4 to 6 lanes. The route has branches connecting to Vo Van Kiet, Binh Dong, Hoai Thanh, Ta Quang Buu and Nguyen Van Linh streets.
This route requires the acquisition of 21.27 hectares of land, of which District 6 acquires 1.55 hectares, District 8 acquires 6.9 hectares and Binh Chanh District acquires 12.82 hectares. The total cost of compensation and resettlement support is 2,878 billion VND, affecting 389 households.
District 6 has 125 households, including 72 partially cleared households and 53 completely cleared households.
District 8 has 214 households, including 76 partially cleared households and 138 completely cleared households.
Binh Chanh district has 50 households, including 41 partially cleared households and 9 completely cleared households.
According to the plan, the project's pre-feasibility study report will be submitted for approval in early 2025. After that, the city will select an investor and begin implementation from 2025 to 2028.
Binh Tien Bridge and Road helps create a new road axis from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Nguyen Van Linh Street, thereby connecting National Highway 50, National Highway 1, Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway, and Ho Chi Minh City Ring Road 3.
