On January 16, the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police Department provided information on the results of the first 15 days of implementing Decree 168/2024 of the Government.
According to the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Police Department, after 15 days of implementing Decree No. 168/2024, there have been clear impacts on traffic order and safety (TTATGT) in Ho Chi Minh City.
Common violations such as running red lights, driving on the sidewalk, not wearing “helmets for motorcyclists”… have been reduced.
This shows that people's awareness of obeying the law when participating in traffic has changed in a positive direction.
At intersections during rush hour, although traffic volume is very high, vehicles stop properly, at the right line, and strictly obey traffic light signals.
At the same time, through receiving people's opinions on traffic safety, the authorities have conducted surveys and installed additional traffic lights or signs allowing vehicles to turn right when the traffic light is red to facilitate people's participation in traffic as well as reduce traffic pressure at intersections during rush hour.
In recent days, the traffic accident situation has changed significantly, decreasing all 3 criteria compared to the previous period.
From January 1 to January 14, 2025, there were 31 traffic accidents in Ho Chi Minh City, killing 14 people and injuring 16 people.
Compared to the previous period, there were 42 fewer cases (-58%), 1 fewer death (-7%), and 40 fewer injuries (-71%).
During the same period, the city's traffic police detected and handled 23,924 violations; revoked 3,958 driving licenses; detained 8,898 vehicles, and paid an estimated VND87 billion to the state treasury.
Some common violations include: Alcohol concentration violations (7,448 cases); speeding violations (2,664 cases); failure to comply with traffic light signals (475 cases); stopping and parking in violation of regulations (1,766 cases)...
