On June 4, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction sent a document to the People's Committees of wards, communes, special zones and the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Management and Technical Infrastructure Center requesting to strengthen solutions to ensure urban green tree safety during the 2026 rainy and storm season.
According to the Department of Construction, the goal is to proactively prevent and respond to green tree incidents, minimizing damage to people and property caused by heavy rain and strong winds.
The Department of Construction requests park and green tree management units to urgently inspect and review the entire green tree system on streets and in parks to cut down and replace diseased, old, rotten, dangerously tilted trees that are at risk of falling.
In particular, units need to focus on inspecting trees whose root systems are affected by infrastructure construction projects such as sidewalk upgrades, water supply and drainage, electricity, and telecommunications.
Tall trees such as sao, dau, lim xẹt in densely populated areas, with many vehicles passing by, are also included in the monitoring area.
In addition, units must regularly prune branches and branches that obscure traffic lights, signs and lighting systems to ensure safety for traffic participants.
The Department of Construction also requests to identify roads and areas at high risk of green tree incidents to develop appropriate response plans. In which, priority is given to roads under construction of infrastructure near tree roots, crowded areas or with many ancient trees and large trees.
In storms or extreme weather, green tree management units must arrange on-duty forces, coordinate with contractors and related units to immediately handle cases of fallen trees and broken branches to ensure smooth traffic and minimize damage.
In particular, green tree incidents affecting people's houses, schools, hospitals, administrative agencies and public works must be prioritized for urgent handling.
For the park system, units are required to regularly check green trees, develop plans to handle trees at risk of unsafety, and at the same time deploy warning measures and guide people to find shelter when heavy rain and strong gusts of wind occur.

For traffic management units, the Department of Construction requests to identify key traffic routes at risk of fallen green trees to proactively plan warnings, traffic diversion and regulation when incidents occur.
People's Committees of wards, communes and special zones are required to strengthen the inspection of green trees in the premises of state agencies, schools, and offices; and at the same time propagate and guide units to fully implement care, pruning, and ensuring the safety of green trees.
