Ho Chi Minh City plans to spend nearly 10,000 billion VND to expand Le Van Luong street - a vital traffic axis connecting the Southern City area with Tay Ninh province.

On May 28, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction said it is organizing the preparation of a pre-feasibility study report for the project to expand Le Van Luong street, the section from Nguyen Van Linh street to Rach Doi bridge, bordering Tay Ninh province.

The road has a total length of about 6.6km, expected to be expanded to 30 - 40m. Total investment is about 9,881 billion VND, of which site clearance costs are about 6,546 billion VND and construction costs are about 2,665 billion VND.

According to the plan, the project will be submitted to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council for investment policy approval at the third quarter session of 2026. The project is expected to start construction in 2027 and be completed in 2029.

Currently, Le Van Luong street is only about 6m wide with two lanes for traffic in opposite directions, and congestion often occurs due to large traffic volume. The expansion of the road is expected to significantly improve the connectivity between the South of Ho Chi Minh City area and Tay Ninh province and neighboring localities.

In addition to the Le Van Luong road expansion project, Ho Chi Minh City is also simultaneously deploying and preparing to invest in many key transport projects to strengthen inter-regional connectivity with Tay Ninh.

In the group of projects under construction, Ring Road 3 HCMC currently achieves progress from about 62% to 85%, expected to be completed in 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai expressway phase 1 has been approved for component projects and is expected to be completed in 2027.

The National Highway 50 expansion project currently reaches about 92% of the construction volume, expected to be completed in 2026.

The Ho Chi Minh road project at Thanh An bridge has completed the section passing through Ho Chi Minh City and is expected to complete the section passing through Tay Ninh province in 2026.

Meanwhile, the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway expansion project started construction on December 19, 2025 and is expected to be completed in 2028.

In the group of projects being prepared for investment, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to start a series of large projects in 2026 such as Ring Road 4 HCMC, expanding National Highway 1 section from Kinh Duong Vuong to the border of Long An province, upgrading National Highway 22 from An Suong to Ring Road 3 and Binh Duong - Tay Ninh dynamic axis (Bau Bang - Moc Bai).

Besides, there are also new Northwest road projects, Vo Van Kiet extended road, National Highway 50B, expansion of the road connecting the Ho Chi Minh City - Trung Luong expressway, Nguyen Van Bua road and Lon bridge, Rach Doi bridge connecting Le Van Luong road with DT. 826C and connecting road and bridge No. 1 (National Highway 56B).

Notably, the Saigon riverside road is also being proposed for investment with a scale of 8 - 10 lanes. Currently, the Department of Finance is considering to advise the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee.
