The above information is part of the plan to organize commemorative activities in the second and third quarters of 2026 implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports, in coordination with many related departments and agencies.
According to the plan, social security care activities are considered one of the key contents towards the milestone of 50 years of the city named after Uncle Ho (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026). The support level of 1 million VND/household will be for policy families, social protection households, poor and near-poor households and those in difficult circumstances in the area.
In addition to direct support policies for people, Ho Chi Minh City also implements many programs and projects serving the community. In the field of education, the city sets a target to complete and put into use 70 school projects with more than 1,250 new classrooms before the 2026 - 2027 school year.
In the field of transport infrastructure, a series of key projects are expected to start construction in June such as the Thu Thiem - Long Thanh railway line, Ho Tram - Long Thanh international airport expressway, expansion of Nguyen Tat Thanh road, Cai Mep Ha seaport complex or the Can Gio - Vung Tau connection project by bridge or sea tunnel.
In parallel with civil works, Ho Chi Minh City promotes propaganda activities about the life and career of President Ho Chi Minh and the formation and development of the city over 50 years of bearing Uncle Ho's name. Many seminars, exhibitions and cultural and artistic programs will be organized to spread the spirit of solidarity, community responsibility and pride of the city's people.
According to the plan, Ho Chi Minh City strives to implement at least 200 welcome projects in 2026, focusing on content groups such as building a civilized city, taking care of social security, towards the sea and islands and ensuring security and order.
On this occasion, the city also organizes many major cultural activities, including an art program celebrating President Ho Chi Minh's birthday, a photo exhibition about Ho Chi Minh City's development journey and art festivals at many central locations.
In particular, on the evening of July 2nd, Ho Chi Minh City is expected to organize high-altitude fireworks displays at 3 locations along with many low-altitude display locations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the city named after President Ho Chi Minh.
