The Office of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just sent a document to the Department of Finance, the Department of Transport, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and districts to convey the direction of the leaders of the City People's Committee on inspection and examination of vehicle parking points.
Under the direction of Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Dung, the Department of Transport, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City and the People's Committees of districts must closely coordinate with the Department of Finance to implement regulations on price declaration and inspect compliance with legal regulations for vehicle parking services invested with non-state budget sources in Ho Chi Minh City.
In 2018, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued Decision 35/2018/QD-UBND on the maximum price of vehicle parking services invested from non-state budget sources in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to this decision, vehicle parking prices in central districts such as District 1, District 3, District 5 are regulated as follows:
Motorbikes at schools, hospitals, bus stations, markets, supermarkets, and entertainment locations: 4,000 VND/day trip, 6,000 VND/night trip, 210,000 VND/month.
Motorbikes at other locations: 6,000 VND/4 hours a day, 9,000 VND/4 hours a night, 310,000 VND/month.
Cars with less than 9 seats: 35,000 VND/2 first hour, 20,000 VND/second hour, 5 million VND/month.
Cars with 9 seats: 100,000 VND/4 hours/trip, 5 million VND/month.
In other districts, the price of motorbike parking remains unchanged. However, car parking prices are different.
Cars with less than 9 seats: 35,000 VND/4 hours/trip, 2 million VND/month.
Cars with 9 seats: 100,000 VND/4 hours/trip, 5 million VND/month.
In fact, in recent times, many private parking lots have arbitrarily increased prices to higher than the prescribed level, especially in the central area.
This not only causes frustration for people but also creates unfair competition between parking service businesses.
