Ho Chi Minh City builds Kenh Ngang No. 2 bridge, about 345 m long, 13 m wide to 15.5 m wide, connecting Hoai Thanh and Luu Huu Phuoc streets, helping to increase traffic connectivity in the South.

Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just approved the plan to organize the "Architectural Plan for Kenh Ngang Bridge No. 2" competition in Phu Dinh ward.

The Kenh Ngang No. 2 bridge project has a starting point connecting to Hoai Thanh street and an ending point connecting to Luu Huu Phuoc street. The total length of the entire route is about 580 m, of which Kenh Ngang No. 2 bridge is newly built with reinforced concrete structure, about 345 m long, 13 m to 15.5 m wide.

In addition to the main bridge item, the project also includes the construction of a bridgehead connecting two existing routes; and at the same time investing in completing lighting systems, green trees, drainage...

Previously, the Kenh Ngang No. 2 bridge project was approved for investment policy by the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council in 2016, but was not implemented afterwards.

Currently, Hoai Thanh street and Luu Huu Phuoc street are divided by a section of canal connecting from Lo Gom canal to Doi canal. Therefore, people who want to travel between these two routes must go around Binh Dong street, causing prolonged time and inconvenience.

The organization of the competition aims to find an optimal architectural plan, highly feasible, with a modern imprint and creating a landscape highlight for the area. This is also an important basis for deploying investment in the project, contributing to meeting the increasing traffic demand in the Southern area of Ho Chi Minh City.

The contest is organized in a wide format, without limiting the number of participating units. Design consulting organizations or consulting consortiums will register, submit capacity profiles and develop competition plans according to the set schedule. The plans will be presented and defended before the exam council.

Based on the evaluation, the council will rank and select the most outstanding architectural plan to report to the exam organizing agency and submit it to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee for approval. The contest results will be announced and awarded prizes according to current regulations.

Also in this area, Ho Chi Minh City is planning to build Kenh Ngang Bridge No. 1 located on Hoai Thanh street, 150 m long, 10.5 m wide, with a total investment of nearly 90 billion VND.

Kenh Ngang Bridge No. 3 on Luu Huu Phuoc street is 400 m long, 10.5 m wide, with a total investment of about 350 billion VND.

Ho Chi Minh City will also build a new Rach Cat bridge connecting An Duong Vuong street and Luu Huu Phuoc street, with a total length of more than 1 km. In which, the main bridge section is 261 m long, 14 m wide; the approach road section is 797 m long, 20 m to 28 m wide. Total investment is about 1,165 billion VND.
